Alicia & Scott

Raising three girls and planning one wedding was all the inspiration Alicia and Scott Jacobson needed to take the leap and purchase The Glass Slipper from its previous owner. A connoisseur in all things “girly”, Alicia knew she could grow the store into a destination for girls and women from Rexburg, ID and beyond.  The first step was to give customers a range of affordable options for buying or renting new and preowned wedding and prom dresses.

As word got out that The Glass Slipper is a safe space to experience the delights of trying on a beautiful dress, the Jacobsons quickly outgrew their first storefront and moved into a new much larger space. The young girls dreaming of their wedding or prom posted pictures of themselves in dresses at the store on Instagram, becoming The Glass Slipper’s de facto public relations team.

After 10 years in business, Alicia still loves giving girls a fun experience where they can try on all the dresses they want. These days, a bride looking for her wedding dress very often bought her first prom dress from The Glass Slipper. For Alicia, serving the community in this way by being part of the important events in her customers’ lives is deeply satisfying.

She is proud that the store has a history of promoting body positivity. It is important to her that every girl and every woman has that experience, that moment when she feels truly beautiful.

Because The Glass Slipper is not tied to any brands and buys gently used dresses directly from their owners, Alicia is able to offer a broad selection of dresses, some not easily available elsewhere. That’s why the store has expanded to include an online store to help brides across the country find their perfect dress.
